I hunted the Adirondacks this weekend, no snow, but saturday was 2" of rain with high winds. Even with high tech gear I was wet to the skin and had a 3 mile hike back to camp. About 2 miles into the walk back I started to be really cold(I didnt eat breakfast, and was over tired as well which is never a help) But as camp was only another few miles away it wasnt that bad, knowing the fire was burning and food was there. In a survival situation with no camp to go to and a need to move it can get real ugly real fast. In a survival sit. I would have made shelter, got a fire going and waited out the rain, but if I had to keep moving, being cold, wet and hungery, it becomes more a mental game you need to win.

I completely agree with that to loose is to die and to die is quite the opposite of survival. good post
