This paper is 30 years old, but still yields some helpful info.
its 30 years old and people are still talking about it, so ya in my opinion it is still useful.

Great find.
Some of my most helpful information on woodcraft and surviving hard times is from another era , a lot of information on how to get by on a little money and a lot of knowledge.
IMHO bottom line survival is about having enough to eat followed by protecting your self .

wise words
I also recommend Edward H. Romney's book, 'Living Well on Practically Nothing', D.C. Beard's classic, 'Shelter, Shacks and Shanties', a fine tome on from scratch shelter building, and Brian Kelling's book,'Travel Trailer Homesteading for under $5K' .

This books are basic guides for folks on limited means to live really well without seeming so. Not everyone who drives a beat-up car or pickup or is riding an old style bike is broke. They are just better spenders than likely 99% of most Americans.

Living well with out a lot of money is a by product of preparedness and survival. I very much enjoy and encourage any instructions and publications I can get a hold of on how to do so. I have not had the pleasure of reading Shelter, Shacks and Shanties, so it looks like another trip to the local library is in order. Thanks Lothar of the Hill People for mentioning it.
