The Colony

I'm watching the Discovery Channel's new show about survival called The Colony and can detect some flaws in their planning. It's about as lame as every other reality show I've seen on the so-called information channels. Very superficial, no guns, edged weapons They set it up in a warehouse instead a neighbor hood. They aren't using bicycles or any other practical wheeled carts. They wasted time setting up electrical lighting instead finding food and water sources. They did laundry for Pete's sake. Sometimes I wonder about folks.

I haven't seen the show yet and I don't think I ever will. What you report doesn't surprise me. Discovery use to be about true learning but like all things holly woodish they have mutated into a ratings only thing. On the good side it may bring more people into the reality that we as preppers live in every day. Sure they will bring Discovery bear grills bad habits with them but we can break those bad habits for them by friendly education.

Seems to be the general consensus among survival communities that the show doesn't scratch the surface and glosses over so much that actual preppers would cover were they to be the producers. Shame, was hoping to add it to the watch list of evening entertainment.
